I absolutely love this song titled, ‘speak life’ by TobyMac. The song is based on Proverbs 18:21 where it says, ‘The tongue has the power of life and death, and those who love it will eat its fruit’.
It is a really powerful song reminding me of the weight my words carry and it just reinforces my everyday outlook as an individual who seeks to build people rather than destroy them. Now i am a mum, I’m even more careful because children have a way of hanging on to words…especially ones uttered by their moms and dads.
Wow it has been ages since i posted any yummy dishes up here. I just been so busy i hardly get ‘me time’ these days so i need to improve on my time management. The other day i had this sudden urge to eat spinach( no no i am not preggers). I do get these odd cravings now and then and as any normal foodie would do i always oblige.I usually buy fresh spinach as well as frozen spinach (for busy days) and i trust they are all just as healthy…Anyway i decided to cook spinach but i wanted it to be as green as possible so not over cooked. Here are the steps i took to achieve this lovely dish for anybody who dares to try…buon appetito :))
What you will need :1kg spinach fresh (frozen will do)
Beef cut in little cubes
4 maggi cubes
3 medium onions
2 tbs pure unrefined palm oil
1 whole super hot scotch bonnet
1 tsp freshly grated ginger
2 tsp freshly grated garlic
A pinch of all purpose seasoning
To start off, wash your meat and put in the pot. Add the palm oil and start gently frying the meet on low heat. Chop all the onions and add to the meat. Add the ginger, all purpose, garlic and maggi to the meat and stir occasionally whilst cooking on medium heat. Cover the pot and let it simmer on medium heat for 20 minutes.
After about 20 minutes there should be a build up of sauce from all the ingredients in so far. At this stage you can add your ready washed and chopped spinach to the meat. Ideally you don’t want to over cook the spinach so that the end result will be a nice green hearty dish. You can add half a cup of water if need be but i would recommend none as the spinach will yeald its own water. Add the whole scotch bonnet at the same time as the spinach, cover and let it simmer for 10 minutes. If cooking for the whole family, I usually cook the meal, remove some for my babies before adding the chilli so that way everybody’s happy.
Before turning off the cooker, do squeeze the scotch bonnet whilst in the pot with a spoon to achieve the maximum super hot flavour.Once it’s cooked you can serve with pounded yam, boiled yam or boiled green plantain. Remember it’s a quick convenient meal so do use tender meat or lamb…the softer the better because the cooking time is just 30 minutes long hooooray enjoy 😄👏🍴🍲
This happened a few months ago and i did not plan on sharing but changed my mind as the scene keeps playing over and over again in my head. So this happened when my baby Shalom was 16 months old. On that particular day i was wearing a tight curly wig as i am trying to grow my natural hair. I had been wearing that wig for a good couple of months and it made other things easier because i could then use my time on other things instead of doing my hair everyday….
Anyway, going back to the gist, i was holding her when she kept pointing at my hair and saying, ‘baba sheep’. She could not say the word black then but i knew she was trying to sing baba black sheep. I did not know if i should laugh, cry or send her to the corner for 1 minute. I did not do any of those instead i sang along with her, ‘yes darling baba backsheep have you any wool’.
Yes children do say the funniest things and needless to say i changed my hair without delay 🙂 lol

Roughly 3 weeks ago my friend’s cousin Tiago was run over deliberately by a stranger and left for dead. This is the news report of the incident which also shows him on the ground and the suspect being taken away. Please continue praying for Tiago. The doctors are already calling him a miracle because he was pronounced dead on arrival to the hospital. So far this week he has been breathing on his own for about 3 days now. He is attempting to talk and recognizes his family members. His mother Deyse would like us all to also keep the suspect in our prayers and for Jesus to change him and help him.
I got a call the Friday before last from a dear friend who had an urgent prayer request. It was unusual for her to call so late but i knew whatever it was had to be serious. She told me that her aunt from Brasil needed all believers around the world praying fro her son right away as he was in critical condition in hospital. It unfolded that on Sunday 8th March her cousin Tiago had been in a bar when a fight broke out which he had nothing to do with. Being the person he is he stepped in to calm the situation. The perpetrator did not take kindly to this and left. Tiago left the bar shortly after to get home not knowing that the guy who had been fighting lay in wait only to deliberately run him over 3 times. By the time Tiago was taken to hospital he was covered in a white sheet and declared dead. His lungs were not working due to punctures, he was brain was dead and he had crushed pelvic among other injuries. When his mother rushed to be by his side, she stood by his bed and said, “Tiago Jesus is calling you “. As soon as she uttered those words his body started shaking and she knew she had to fight for her son. Days passed by and he was still attached to the machines whilst the doctors persuaded his mother to turn off the ventilator and donate his organs. His mother, pastor Deyse from the town of Belo Horizonte told them the machine was staying on and she was trusting God for healing. Family members gathered to pray in the hospital, outside the hospital and even at the scene where the incident took place. In fact his mother has been going there to pray on Sundays since the incident took place. Prayers continued to flood in and everybody continued to pray. His sister Jessica made a vow unto God saying that if God will give her a sign her brother will live she will cut off her long hair…wow such amazing faith. I have seen the girl’s hair and she had amazing thick long hair.
Anyways sometime last week after another day of pressure from the doctor’s to have the machine turned off, his mother held his hand and said, “Tiago its mummy, if you can hear please squeeze my hand” and he did! The doctor’s then had to test the tube as a procedure and as they took it off, Tiago grabbed the tube letting the doctors know he was still alive and kicking. His sister quickly went to the salon and got a hair cut because she got her confirmation that her brother will live.
A few hours after responding to his mother, Tiago also opened his eyes briefly all to the amazement of all the doctors who had already washed their hands of him. They keep telling his mother, ‘wow your people are really strong with their prayers because it’s working’. A day or so passed and Tiago opened his eyes and his sister showed him her new hairdo to which he replied with a huge cheeky frown to show his disapproval and plus remind us he is still the same big bro. Pastor Deyse felt encouraged that her son was (and is) slowly coming back to her so she sat near him and explained to him what happened and how he ended up in that condition and by the time she finished, Tiago shed a tear.
Today as i write this, the doctors have reported Tiago is no longer in a critical condition. He is now in a stable condition and his lungs are working 100%. On top of that, he will not need surgeries of any kind and if he continues this way then he will be moved to the recovery room soonest!😄
Please as you read this continue praying for perfect healing. We are all praying that He who begun the good work in him will be faithful to complete it (Philippians 1:6). This story is just amazing and we await on the Lord to perfect his healing in making Tiago 100% healed and use him His Glory. I will post a video shortly which covers the whole incident (sorry it is in Portuguese and no translation). Towards the end of the video you see Tiago laying on the road. If you are like me and get upset easily please don’t watch. Thank you so much for reading this and for praying and as you pray for Tiago , his mother would like us all to pray for the young man who did this terrible thing and for the youth in general. May God forgive and restore them all in Jesus name Amen.

Wow it has been ages since i blogged but could not let this day go by without popping by to say happy mother’s day to all. This beautiful journey called motherhood starts from forever and lasts forever. As well as being beautiful it is also one of the most important roles in the world because even world leaders and lawyers do not just fall from the sky. Indeed they came about because somebody chose to give them life and nurture them.
I was walking back from school drop off last week when i had a deep convo with one of the mums who also happens to be a christian. We discussed about the scripture that says ,” Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature”(Mark16:15-16). You see a lot of the times people are gagging for roles in the church whilst neglecting their responsibilities as parents or sometimes undermining their roles. Some are obsessed with joining the choir, ushering or hogging the stage. Now, there is absolutely nothing wrong with serving but i believe we need to stop undermining our roles and find a balance. The Bible does tell us to, ‘train up a child in the way he should go’ and that backs backs up what my friend and i were discussing. We discussed how we can fit in ‘go ye into the world’ in between school runs, cooking, cleaning, homework, school project, taking care of hubby and all other things that being a full time mother entails. My friend laughed and said, ‘but your children are your number one ministry’. She is sort of right because sometimes there is that conflict that a lot of us would love to go out evangelising etc and then you have that guilt when you cannot find the time. I believe that when God wants you to go and be a missionary He will provide all that is necessary for example Valerie Shepard and her family. Likewise i do not think it is wise beating yourself up and feeling guilty that your not out there doing the ‘work’ of the Lord because, believe me ‘training up your child’ still counts as serving the Lord.
So back to the point, happy mother’s day dear mothers and me included. Whatever we are doing with our families, i pray that we would do it all as if doing it unto God. The main thing is that we have to enjoy every seasons of our lives and who knows, perhaps one day God may send you to preach, lay hands on the sick and be the hands and feet of Christ. Saying that, it does not mean we cannot reach out in our current season. It would not hurt to share the love of Christ with fellow mums. It would not hurt at all to offer to pray for the sick or the lost. What i am trying to say is before we get the opportunity to go to a far away place…..i guess we can start wherever we are so on that note, Happy mother’s day with Love and blessings to you all xxxxxx 🙂
