This poem totally blessed my socks off:)

poemcover-copyMy toddler has not been feeling her best due to chickenpox….yes out of all things to bring home from nursery at Christmas she decided to bring chickenpox. Because she has not been feeling her best, she has been misbehaving a bit. This is quite normal for her. Whenever she is not well i have to work ten times harder whether to help her with eating or just general playing nicely with her big sister. Last week was no different when she started crying on the bus. She wanted this and that and most of all she wanted whatever was not available on the bus. In the end i found one of her big sister’s book at the bottom of the basket on the pushchair. I used this t calm her down by showing her the lovely pictures of Santa. She then cried and said, ‘wead it for me mummy’. Bless my princess she is still struggling with her Rs and Ls.

As i began to read to her she calmed down and i myself began to enjoy the book. The poem that totally blessed me is by Christina Rossetti called, ‘In the bleak midwinter’. I decided to paste it on here to share the joy and the love.ย

In the bleak midwinter, frosty wind made moan,
Earth stood hard as iron, water like a stone;
Snow had fallen, snow on snow, snow on snow,
In the bleak midwinter, long ago.
Our God, Heaven cannot hold Him, nor earth sustain;
Heaven and earth shall flee away when He comes to reign.
In the bleak midwinter a stable place sufficed
The Lord God Almighty, Jesus Christ.
Enough for Him, whom cherubim, worship night and day,
Breastful of milk, and a mangerful of hay;
Enough for Him, whom angels fall before,
The ox and ass and camel which adore.
Angels and archangels may have gathered there,
Cherubim and seraphim thronged the air;
But His mother only, in her maiden bliss,
Worshipped the beloved with a kiss.
What can I give Him, poor as I am?
If I were a shepherd, I would bring a lamb;
If I were a Wise Man, I would do my part;
Yet what I can I give Him: give my heart.

Merry Christmas 2016

Wow i cannot believe Christmas is already here. It has been a very interesting year with so much happening that i feel as if Christmas just crept up on me just like that…bham!!

I just love Christmas and i love the author of Christmas Himself…Jesus Christ. Christmas is a wonderful time when i am reminded of how it all begun. I am reminded of how my Lord gave up His riches to be born in a manger surrounded by what a new born baby (let alone a king) should not be surroundedย with . The beautiful story of the birth of Jesus sort of reflects upon how He was born in the most unpleasant and hostile circumstances. To me the beginning resembles the end in that His earthly life ended also in the most unpleasant,hostile,and brutal way. This emphasises how much of a sacrifice Salvation is. Jesus came just for one thing and that was salvation and He did it all for me (and whosoever).

This is not a sad story, this is a beautiful story. This is a story of true love. The good book tells us that, ‘ ย For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life’

With all that in mind i just want to say a very merry Christmas and a happy new year.

Santa in Nigeria…lol

I am not a big fan of chain letters and chain messgaes as i believe the blessings of God is not dependent on how many messages i can forward ( ahhh glad to clear that).This video gave me the giggles and i had to hit the forward button as soon as i received it.

This video is just so funny and my girls have already learned the dance routine. Well done to the creator ๐Ÿ™‚

A star is grown…yum

I am always sharing wonderful stories of my childhood to my children. The biggest reward is seeing their sheer delight written across their faces so i was so amazed when i came across these gorgeous star fruits. When i was child growing up in Africa, i used to eat so much start fruit. I would eat and eat until i get a sore mouth…(yep miss piggy right here).

Anyway when i took these beauties home my little ones enjoyed it so much and both said, ‘oh wow mummy its like twinkle twinkle’. It’s these little ‘awww’ moments that make me appreciate the beauty of God and as that beautiful hymn goes, ‘all things bright and beautiful the Lord hath made them all’.
