I am always on the look out for ways to make my cooking easy by trying lots of different stuff…yes i like to spice up my life lol (my kitchen life). I have recently become acquainted with the darling savoy cabbage and i must say its the best cabbage ever. I am familiar with the red cabbage which can be used for salads an likewise the white cabbage which can be steamed but the savoy cabbage in my eyes is the queen of all cabbages. I have found the savoy cabbage to be so versatile that i have been able to use it raw for coleslaw, gentle steamed and served with a delicious roast. The most surprising thing of all about the darling savoy cabbage is that it has withstood my African cuisine. I was able to make a proper soup with palm oil and smoked fish which tasted amazing alongside pounded yam. I know that some African dishes takes ages to be prepared and my soup was prepared in 30 min but i was amazed that the cabbage retained its colour and crunch. So if you are looking to spice up your life and add some colour to it then i would recommend this delicious veg. It is simply delicious whichever way you choose to serve it and i guarantee you will soon be chomping at the savoy.
Happy Shrove Tuesday to all those celebrating. Shrove Tuesday which is also known as pancake day is one of the many important days on the Christian calendar. It is the last day before the season of lent. On pancake day we enjoy rich food such butter and eggs because once Lent season begins, some people choose to give up on certain rich food. Pancake Tuesday is important because it is also the countdown to Easter (Pascal) which is truly the most important day in the whole Christian calendar for obvious reasons. Without the Resurrection of Jesus, Salvation would be non existent and i for one i am eternally grateful for all Christ did on the Cross for me amen.
My princesses and i enjoyed some yummy pancakes, strawberries, nutella and honey. I love the fact that i can get them involved in these types of activities because it opens doors to questions and answers which in turn brings forth knowledge. Here are the pictures of our lovely desert…yummy yummy
Happy New year !! Hip hip hooray praise the Lord 🙌🙌🙌.
May the good Lord order our steps 👣👣👣 as we step into this brand new year. I don’t know about you but I have seen the goodness of God in 2016 and I am eternally thankful. There were ups and downs and at times some things were beyond my human understanding but God in His Grace and mercy brought us through it all. So to God be the glory for the great things He hath done amen.
Have a blessed and marvellous new year filled with the blessings of God which maketh rich. The Bible tells us in proverbs 10:21, ‘The blessing of the Lord, it maketh rich, and he addeth no sorrow with it’.
I know that God is not an ATM machine where we can just at the drop of a hat or rather pin number demand this blessings. This is because as followers of Christ we understand that the foremost numero uno aspect of our faith is having a personal relationship with Christ. Walking with Christ everyday and spending quality time in His word. I also understand as a believer our words are very important and as the Bible says ‘life’ and ‘death’ is at the power of the tongue. So let’s speak the blessings of God upon us and our families, homes, loved ones ,teachers, ministers etc for 2017 amen …..Again I say happy New year 2017 praise the Lord 🎊🎊🎉🎉💕💕💕💒💒💒💒💒
I thoroughly enjoyed myself this morning. I enjoyed the fresh morning sun,cup of tea and most importantly the word of God. It has been weeks since i have sat down to relax like this. Normally i am either stuck in traffic, attending playgroup, assembly or the usual school activities. My usual routine keeps me so busy that by the time i have done the morning school run, get home, blink twice then it is home time and time to dash off again but today was simply beautiful. Today i was able to just enjoy the early morning sun bouncing from the sky to my windows while i enjoyed the daily word. I did not just pour my tea in my mouth as i normally would when rushing…no i just sat and enjoyed every drop and appreciated the fact that summer holiday is indeed upon us. God is so good and i intend to enjoy the beauty of His works even beyond the summer holidays when the hustle and bustle returns.
We live in a busy world where most even work 7 days per week. Because of the busy nature of our modern world, it is no wonder that every Fridays most of us rejoice as we look forward to the weekend. We have all become familiar with the term ‘TGIF’ which stands for, ‘thank God its Friday’.
Today i just want to take a moment to be thankful; for one of the best days that is good Friday. I have always been fascinated by the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ and as a child i remember watching a very old Jesus movie. This movie was in French (i understood zero French of course)and it showed Jesus as he was accused and sent to the cross. Perhaps the actors and the the make-up were too believable, but i will never forget that i was touched by that movie. I may have been about 7 years old and i just sat there watching and sobbing quietly. I was touched by the crown made of thorns, the blood, the bruises and most of all His heart broken mother Mary as she cried at the foot of the cross. As much as this movie touched me of course i know that the reality was far worst. John chapter chapter 18 through to chapter 19 tells the reality of good Friday and beyond and as i read these scriptures now as a woman and a mother i can appreciate it even more.
I am so thankful for good Friday. I am thankful that God loved us so much that he sent His only begotten son to redeem us. I am so thankful that the story does not end at the cross or the tomb because after 3 days the stones roll away for Jesus is alive forever.
On the news this week the Duchess of Cambridge Katherine gave a talk to a group of school children at St.Matthew’s primary school in Westminster. According to Daily Mail, the Duchess attended with with princes William and Harry shortly after attending the commonwealth service. The Duchess told the children that prince George now has a scooter and he loves to speed and that she cannot keep up with him…But don’t worry about his royal boisterousness because the Duchess also said that baby sister princess Charlotte keeps him in check(typical baby sister behaviour eh).
The scooter is a lovely thing but my goodness when your child is using it you often find yourself panicking or running after them in panic. The whole experience can be stressful for parents too especially when you are doing the school run and perhaps have a buggy and another baby plus you are surrounded by traffic and roadwork .
Regardless of the panic, it is great to see prince George having a wale of a time on his scooter and long may the fun continue.
I am a firm believer in using whatever i have at home to make yummy dishes. Funny i say yummy because i often don’t enjoy it as much as my family and the reason being is that someone else’s cooking always tastes better to me..yep funny logic.
Anyway so i opted for spicy fish and chips with mama Grace twist. To make the fish I used the browning technique to seal in the flavour and then allowed it to cook in the oven. I made some delicious chips with the skin (i heard its healthier) and made my spicy red onion garnish to serve on top of the fish. I also steamed some delicious sweet corn served with a dollop of butter.
Result was happy faces at the dinner table and even little Shalom enjoyed it but i had to tell her its meat or chicken before she could it lol..yep little lies mums have to tell little fussy eaters.
