We live in a busy world where most even work 7 days per week. Because of the busy nature of our modern world, it is no wonder that every Fridays most of us rejoice as we look forward to the weekend. We have all become familiar with the term ‘TGIF’ which stands for, ‘thank God its Friday’.
Today i just want to take a moment to be thankful; for one of the best days that is good Friday. I have always been fascinated by the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ and as a child i remember watching a very old Jesus movie. This movie was in French (i understood zero French of course)and it showed Jesus as he was accused and sent to the cross. Perhaps the actors and the the make-up were too believable, but i will never forget that i was touched by that movie. I may have been about 7 years old and i just sat there watching and sobbing quietly. I was touched by the crown made of thorns, the blood, the bruises and most of all His heart broken mother Mary as she cried at the foot of the cross. As much as this movie touched me of course i know that the reality was far worst. John chapter chapter 18 through to chapter 19 tells the reality of good Friday and beyond and as i read these scriptures now as a woman and a mother i can appreciate it even more.
I am so thankful for good Friday. I am thankful that God loved us so much that he sent His only begotten son to redeem us. I am so thankful that the story does not end at the cross or the tomb because after 3 days the stones roll away for Jesus is alive forever.
Wow it has been ages since i blogged but could not let this day go by without popping by to say happy mother’s day to all. This beautiful journey called motherhood starts from forever and lasts forever. As well as being beautiful it is also one of the most important roles in the world because even world leaders and lawyers do not just fall from the sky. Indeed they came about because somebody chose to give them life and nurture them.
I was walking back from school drop off last week when i had a deep convo with one of the mums who also happens to be a christian. We discussed about the scripture that says ,” Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature”(Mark16:15-16). You see a lot of the times people are gagging for roles in the church whilst neglecting their responsibilities as parents or sometimes undermining their roles. Some are obsessed with joining the choir, ushering or hogging the stage. Now, there is absolutely nothing wrong with serving but i believe we need to stop undermining our roles and find a balance. The Bible does tell us to, ‘train up a child in the way he should go’ and that backs backs up what my friend and i were discussing. We discussed how we can fit in ‘go ye into the world’ in between school runs, cooking, cleaning, homework, school project, taking care of hubby and all other things that being a full time mother entails. My friend laughed and said, ‘but your children are your number one ministry’. She is sort of right because sometimes there is that conflict that a lot of us would love to go out evangelising etc and then you have that guilt when you cannot find the time. I believe that when God wants you to go and be a missionary He will provide all that is necessary for example Valerie Shepard and her family. Likewise i do not think it is wise beating yourself up and feeling guilty that your not out there doing the ‘work’ of the Lord because, believe me ‘training up your child’ still counts as serving the Lord.
So back to the point, happy mother’s day dear mothers and me included. Whatever we are doing with our families, i pray that we would do it all as if doing it unto God. The main thing is that we have to enjoy every seasons of our lives and who knows, perhaps one day God may send you to preach, lay hands on the sick and be the hands and feet of Christ. Saying that, it does not mean we cannot reach out in our current season. It would not hurt to share the love of Christ with fellow mums. It would not hurt at all to offer to pray for the sick or the lost. What i am trying to say is before we get the opportunity to go to a far away place…..i guess we can start wherever we are so on that note, Happy mother’s day with Love and blessings to you all xxxxxx 🙂
This version of Psalm 23 (The Lord is my Shepherd…) is beautifully sang by Nigerian Gospel artist Kenny K’ore. This version is sang in Nigerian pidgin. No translation needed if you know your Psalm 23…lol enjoy but please do not ask me for translation as i am still learning my self.
I often hear Christians saying,’God is good’ but sometimes i think we never take a moment to just ponder on that ‘goodness’. Sometimes when i do take a step back and just reflect on His goodness i am often filled with gratitude because i could never find the right word to describe just how good and wonderful the Living God truly is.
As you all know by know i love Gospel music and for the past few months my little princesses and i have been listing to and belting out Forever Jones Hallelujah song. The band forever Jones consists of mum and dad Dewitt and Kim Jones plus their 5 miracle children . Looking at this beautiful family you would not know of the trials their mother and father went though to have them.
Mr and Mrs Jones have been married for 34 years however the beginning of their marriage was marred with fertility issues. The couple were unable to conceive due to the effects of pelvic inflammatory disease which came about when Mrs Jones had toxic shock syndrome. Doctors told the couple they would never be able to have children but the couple decided to trust in God instead. The couple stood on the word of God and “Children are a gift from the Lord; they are a reward from Him” (Psalm 127:3) became their prescription. After years of having no baby they went on to have 5 babies plus 2 grand babies.
Their story gives me goose pimples and i hope whoever reads this would feel encouraged.
Byron Cage celebrated his 51St birthday last weekend with much prayer and thanksgiving unto God according to his tweets over the weekend. Mr Cage who only recently returned from an emotional yet humbling trip to South Africa which coincided with the passing of Nelson Mandela seemed to be enjoying his day as he later tweeted thank you messages to us his fans and also to his peers.
I still cant believe he is 51 and not 35 well praise God for the grace too look young and i hope when i reach the 50s club i will look that good!! Congratulations to him !!
