RIP Dr Myles and Ruth Munroe

Dr MylesI was saddened this week to hear of the passing of a great man of God. Dr Myles Munroe, his wife Ruth, daughter and their senior ministers all perished when their private jet crashed in Bahamas. Dr Munroe and his team were heading to their 2014 leadership summit when this terrible incident took place.

I was touched by a wonderful video i watched of Dr Munroe on Revelation TV this Monday where he shared his testimony of how he came to now Jesus Christ. In this interview he credits his mother (and encourages all mothers to do the same) for giving him a Bible at the age of 13 and ordering him to read Ephesians chapter 3:20. He read that verse as a 13 year old boy and wept as he was moved by the Holy Spirit. At that tender age he gave his life to Jesus Christ.  In the video Dr Munroe also emphasizes on his purpose here on earth saying, ”I was born to transform followers into leaders and leaders into agents of change..i am very clear on what i am born to do …as a matter of fact my days are too short as i am too excited about my purpose”.

It is so amazing hearing those words and realizing that this was a man of God who knew his purpose, had clear objectives and utilized his gifts to strengthen the body of Christ. Empower leaders he sure did and as i trawl through the web i have come across messages upon messages of gratitude from people commenting on major news outlets. What a testimony of a great life lived seeing people touched worldwide in a positive way.

Now i must address the private jet issues as i have read various comments on private jets and preachers and so on. I hate to get into the whole politics of things as to whether or not preachers should have private jets and this is not really the moment to get into the whole debate. This is a moment to show respect and love so i pray that God comforts Myles Junior and their loved ones. This grief is too much to bear and only the love and care of God can get them all through it.

Real housewives of Atlanta’s Kandi planning baby number 3

Kandi

On her recent interview with in Touch magazine, Kandi spoke of her desires to become a mother again. Kandi who married Todd Tucker in April 2014 expressed her desires to pop baby number 3 by age 39 and is therefore planning to conceive this year (we love Kandi but that is far TMI)…

Kandi who is still known by her famous maiden name Baruss is already a mum of 2 girls her biological daughter Reily who is 12 years old and Todd’s daughter who is 18 years old. Wow those age gaps should be interesting and here i was worrying about my 3 year gaps but i suppose families just have to do whatever suits them.

Radar online reported that Kandi and Todd are so eager to add to their brood and will go as far as IVF because of her age (age? what age she is only 38 i think she stands a good chance). Radar online reports that IVF is very much welcomed by the couple who want to ensure they have a boy!

Well they are grown married folks so all the best to them but as for choosing the sex of the baby..i hope Mama Joyce will talk some sense into them!

A mother in Sweden left in agony after Epidural blunder :( ouch

babble

A mother has been left in agony after she was injected with strong disinfectant directly into her nervous system. This happened in Sweden at Skåne University hospital in Sweden on the morning of 26th July. According to the Daily Mail, the epidural solution was swapped by mistake for chlorhexidine which is usually used for disinfecting medical instruments. The woman stayed in hospital nearly 2 weeks after giving birth and has only been discharged today. According to her husband, the new mum is in constant pain which she described as, ‘jolts of electricity.

According to DM, this is not the first time an Epidural has gone wrong. They report a woman in Australia was left paralysed from the waist down after suffering nerve damage in 2011.

This is scary stuff as Epidural is already a complex procedure but at the same time we live in society where there is always something offered (i have nothing against people’s choices of pain relief) but after reading this i shall be encouraging myself and other mums to always try the most natural and less invasive option. We do not now what this woman’s situation was so it is not for me to judge so i hope and pray she recovers with no lasting damage Amen! It is well and easy to say because each birth is different and different pain relief work for different woman. For example, someone once told me to opt for gas an air because it causes some to feel as if floating on air but for me it did not work and i certainly did not feel like i was floating on air.

Medical staff and doctors do have to take better care and i pray this does not happen again to someone else. Also if your a believer you have an advantage in the power of prayer that as you go through birth and delivery, Jesus will be with you and will make everything go well and in your favor.

Morning sickness is good for you…yes…really!

christian-faith-pregnancy-joyAs a mother of two i have experienced two interesting pregnancies both of which i spat through it like an angry camel. I constantly felt bloated with my first princess and even went off most of my favorite food and fragrances however with my second i could not stand the smell of lasagna, jerk seasoning or peppers(most things i love). With my second baby i puked so much like an overfed dog until stayed away from most food just in case! I hardly put on any weight and even 2 weeks before giving birth i was asked if i am pregnant by somebody who saw me nearly every other day during the whole pregnancy. Anyway going back to the title, a research carried out at the Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto over a period of 20 years has concluded that women who experience morning sickness tend to give birth to healthier babies. They reported that woman who experienced morning sickness had healthier babies with lower rates of birth defects or developmental issues. The study also showed less cases of miscarriage or premature births in all 850,000 participants.

Wow this is very interesting and i think maybe morning sickness is God’s way of helping us stay away from certain foods that can cause issues in pregnancy and perhaps there maybe a hint of truth in there but with all studies i always tend to take it with a pinch of salt because other factors may have played a role for example class, genes, finances, environment, habits and so on or if the woman took anti-natal vitamins.

I for one have 2 beautiful and healthy daughters thanks to God….not morning sickness lol

Maya Angelou my best poet and author has passed away aged 86

ImageI am saddened to hear of the passing of Maya Angelou. Dr Angelou was an author, actress and a voice to the voiceless. I can look back and say without a doubt that i discovered my love for reading as a result of reading her books in my early teens. I remember reading my old copy of i know why the caged bird sings and never wanting the book to end. Maya Angelou to me is a great example of how you can still remain human regardless of what life throws your way. Here is a woman who was brutally raped by her mother’s boyfriend at a very young age. As a result of the her mother’s boyfriend’s murder  a few days after Maya Angelou became a mute. She did not speak a word for 5 years and spend much time reading and indirectly developed a love for literature. Here is a woman who at the age of 17 became a teenage single mother. Maya went through it all. She went through it all…segregation, poverty, racism etc.

Despite all that Maya Angelou went through, she went on to win various awards for her books as well as for her humanitarian work. Maya Angelou was also active in the civil rights movement and according to dailymailuk,  She was the poet chosen to read at President Bill Clinton’s first inauguration in 1993. She wrote and read an original composition, ‘On the Pulse of Morning,” which became a million-seller.

Maya Angelou will be greatly missed and her books will forever hold pieces of history. Her many books such as the heart of a woman, which offers an insight in the life of Billy Holiday the legendary blues singer is one of my favourite. Just give me a drink of water fore i diiie is another wonderful collection of my favourite Maya Angelou poems and i shall treasure it all. Rest in peace phenomenal woman.
