We live in a busy world where most even work 7 days per week. Because of the busy nature of our modern world, it is no wonder that every Fridays most of us rejoice as we look forward to the weekend. We have all become familiar with the term ‘TGIF’ which stands for, ‘thank God its Friday’.
Today i just want to take a moment to be thankful; for one of the best days that is good Friday. I have always been fascinated by the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ and as a child i remember watching a very old Jesus movie. This movie was in French (i understood zero French of course)and it showed Jesus as he was accused and sent to the cross. Perhaps the actors and the the make-up were too believable, but i will never forget that i was touched by that movie. I may have been about 7 years old and i just sat there watching and sobbing quietly. I was touched by the crown made of thorns, the blood, the bruises and most of all His heart broken mother Mary as she cried at the foot of the cross. As much as this movie touched me of course i know that the reality was far worst. John chapter chapter 18 through to chapter 19 tells the reality of good Friday and beyond and as i read these scriptures now as a woman and a mother i can appreciate it even more.
I am so thankful for good Friday. I am thankful that God loved us so much that he sent His only begotten son to redeem us. I am so thankful that the story does not end at the cross or the tomb because after 3 days the stones roll away for Jesus is alive forever.
